A lovely day to be out but not a fish seen or caught. No hatch to speak of but the odd mayfly rising and some LDO too.
There has been some pretty drastic work around the island halfway up the beat and a job has scoured the bottom of the river bed around that area - whether or not this had any effect on the fish or not I can't say...
Will definitely go back - it looks very fishy indeed!

A really lovely beat. Arrived just after lunch and fished up from bottom of beat to Titley bridge to begin with. Caught 3 with weighted PT and hares ear nymphs and lost another. Occasional rises seen. A few mayfly about. Then fished upstream from Titley Bridge and caught a really nice 12 inch fish on a hares ear nymph. Could hear a JCB working at the end of fist field and water suddenly coloured, with debri floating down. It was clearing fallen tree debri from river. This meant river only fishable upstream of it. Fortunately it stopped at 5pm so river cleared. Tried the lower section again and at 8pm they started to rise. 5 more on dry mayflies, the biggest being about 14 inches, all from long, straight, deepish run alongside the cottage garden. Great sport! Was broken by an even bigger fish as I tried to stop it getting into the bankside tree roots. Will definitely be back.

Had a couple of free hours and having helped clear some of this beat thought I would return and see how it looked.
Parked at the lowest parking and fished short section between the bridges.
Water in lovely condition, plenty of Olives and Mayfly. Persisted with dry fly but despite the fly life did not see a single rise in three hours fishing.
Highlight was an otter working the bank side shallows with such enthusiasm that he/she failed to spot me until literally swam into wading boots. Stood up in the shallow water, looked at me - swam across my feet and a couple of yards downstream turned round and stood up again to have another look.
Brazen and unconcerned and possibly partially responsible for the lack of fish.

River in great condition, weather better than forecast. Wonderfully varied and long beat, wading straightforward in the main but with one or two tricky parts caused by fallen trees. Decent amount of fly life but only two risers in 5 hours. An otter swam straight past me, bold as brass, which I thought might be the cause of my struggle to catch and then within 5 minutes I connected with a beautiful 12" brownie on a heavy nymph.

I decided to give this beat another try with my spare rod. An overcast and breezy afternoon with quite a lot of small black flies about but nothing rising for them. 10 mostly small trout caught by short line nymphing with beaded Pheasant Tail/GRHE nymphs.

One trout of about 6 inches caught and one lost. Only managed to fish for about an hour before my rod tip fell off and I got soaked in a failed attempt to save it. Hopefully the person who was arriving as I left had better luck!

Fished the upper, Lyonshall wood, section of this beat. Plenty of overhanging trees to get caught in and wading needed more care - I managed to fall and get half soaked, perhaps in sympathy with G.S. of Leominster before me. Plenty of trout, all of which fell to nymphs. Three small parr, with the rest in the 6 to 11 inch bracket. A modest trickle of insects hatching, no fish rising. A wonderful day's fishing.

Fished from the the lower end of the beat upwards and managed six nice trout of 9 to 12 inches and four smaller 4 to 5 inchers. A beaded caddis pupa was the most successful fly. Great fun despite the rain.

Drizzle and cool, not promising but the river did yield 4 WBT (6 - 9inches - all safely returned) to deep gold head nymph. An interesting new beat and a lot of river for your money. I did see one swallow. Looking forward to returning when the fish are rising.
