Very warm bright day, began just after midday, started at the lower end of the beat, small little riffle and pool with some deepish flowing water. Spotted some rises and immediately got into an 8" and 13" using a DF spider pattern. That was it for the next few hundred yards as the river widens and becomes very shallow and slow. Saw a few fish but very spooky. Further up found some nice riffles and pools and a few fish were rising again. I then caught on 4 fish, the smallest fish i have ever caught, 1.5 - 3" !! on a black size 18 MF nymph. Further along under some shade there were a few more rises but I was only able to catch another 8" fish on black parachute and that was it for the day.
1st time on a river in Wales and what a fantastic day, looking forward to the Wye tomorrow.

I had a good four hours fishing and caught a lot of trout but no Grayling. The fishing was relatively easy compared to some of the wild fish beats and I was able to use a 3.9m tenkara rod without any problem. I fished from about 4:pm to about 8pm and fish were rising all the time. The river was really low which meant that I did not need to wade in a lot of the pools.

The river was very low and slow not helped by a strong upstream wind. I searched out the faster deeper runs and found Trout in most of them.
4 nice Grayling to 18 inches came from the deeper pools.
All the fish caught on weighted nymphs on French leader including my best ever river Trout of 20 inches.

The day was bright and the river low and clear. All fish taken on a parachute and although nothing over 6 inches they put up a spirited fight on my 6ft #3 rod.

Cold down stream wind. There were a few Iron blues coming off the water as well as March Browns, which made fly choice tricky. It was the Iron Blues that proved most successful. One out of season Grayling and a few Browns made for a pleasant but tricky days fishing on this varied beat.

Arrived 9.30am cold ,overcast very windy started at down stream limit with duo set up 3rd cast wbt to sight fly, followed by others missing the fly! Changed to a dry fly. River quite cloudy and did clear as the day progressed however the wind increased, middle to top not fished due to upstream waves! Found fish rising to bo/bwo hatching midday, last fish 14ins grayling all others trout 5--8ins, all fish returned. Will try again when less windy!
