A cooler day today, initially anyway!! Up at four , all jobs done and the pooch had a bimble ,plumbed for the Edw @ Hundred House ! Got there at ten to six tackled up my usual rig ,misty and lovely and cool to be honest . . . . Reading twelve in my truck , nice !!!

First important task was a temp reading of the water which was 13 degrees, happy with that!! I took it in three more locations as well , all reading thirteen, sorted !!fine for some fishing . . .

Fished dry all morning , Para Greenwells and Adam's, both effective but tricky in places to get a cast away !!! Like a jungle here although as always great fun and some cracking takes this morning too !!lovely bit of sport i must say !!But as always if your carefull on the Edw you can get a dry pretty close to rising fish !! And explosive takes too ! Awesome !!!

Twelve to the net this morning ranging from twelve inches to seven . Four of them really nice fish this morning and plenty of poke in them too . I bet they're relieved like us that the mad scorchio week is over . . . Eeekkkkkkkk bit too much ! And rain to this week I hope! Didn't get any on the weekend on the outskirts of Leominster !! Oh well ,.all down London it seems .

A lovely four hours in one of my favourite spots ! Only did a bit over half of it ! Fun as always here and let's hope this Lilliputian stream has a bit of water soon ! It's pretty much on its bones . Back on the Edw end of the week maybe , spot on . . . . .

It was days like this that reminded me that Hundred House is one of my favourite beats.
Having said that, the lower bit has changed a lot since was last there due to tree fall in the winter storms. And some of the pools are now quite deep, but I won't use chest waders as I will ping them when crossing the barbed wire fences.
All fish taken on a grey duster klink.

Bright hot sunny day. Fished mid afternoon to 6.30 pm, probably not the best time to expect many takes. River was pushing through a little following our ridiculously wet May. Mayfly hatching sporadically but did not see any rises to them. Started with copper nymph, later switching to smaller (size 18) lighter nymph, which bought some success one missed, one bumped off, plus one small brownie.

Arrived to a lovely brisk cool morning with the river fairly full and pushing through. Started near the bridge with a heavy tungsten PTN and had a small eager taker …. Then the wind got up..and up..and up bringing some lovely horizontal rain … managed an hour before casting became impossible ! That’s the Welsh hills !

Well fancied a session on one of my favourites !! After having a cracking morning up at Claerwen reservoir on Tuesday with a buddy , was nice to look forward to the confines of a wild stream !! As I parked up my thoughts were correct!! Very confined and a pretty low river tbh !! May be tricky I thought!!

I tackled up at nine , initially with my own flashback PTN and a tiny GRHE . . . Was a while till I hig into my first Edw fish of the season! Only eight inches and not the little tubby spotties of Summertime ! Still silvery tbh ! I mooched slowly upstream, another hit again in a deep pool , ditto in size . . .

Last fish was a nice one perhaps ten inches again deep water . Other than those , very quiet and with low cold water hardly surprising I thought !! I did notice a booking for I think Aberedw last night on the Wild Streams page ; so will be interesting to see if that angler faired better further downstream!!

Still a really pleasant four hours. . . Three lovely Edw fish to hand , a kingfisher keeping me company, and lots of extra wood down to join an already assault course of a stream !!! Oh well keeps you fit all the in and out of the river !! Back soon when its woken up properly and splashy rises are round every bend !! Happy days!!!

Up early ,did the usual chores , then bimbled off to Hundred House beat of the Edw ,I was in two minds to drive on to Cregrina , as both are some of my favourite beats , but opted for the easier option , didn't fancy disco dancing on the bedrock up at Cregrina beat !!!!
River lowish, like most of them now , but there are some cracking deep pools here to work a weighted nymph through , and this morning was just right to be honest when I started at eight , cool , reading twelve degrees in my truck and initially overcast so good news !!!
Some good sport during the four hours I was there and feisty brownies on the two weight rod this morning !!! Fish ranging from five to ten inches , only two on the Parachute Greenwells this morning ,most on the olive tungsten nymph, ten did make it too the net also lots freeing themselves off the barbless hooks , ahhhhh no bother, still good sport !!
I did spot a mink on the bank of a deep pool, cheeky beggar didn't budge either !!! Gggrrrr !!River is looking tired and messy to be fair , lots of trees and mess in the river , shame really as it's a cracking beat , needs the habitat team going through and giving it a dam good tidy up !!!!
That said, a lovely four hours , lovely mooching back to the truck , and nice to have a well earned can of pop and a banana when I de kitted !!some rain in next week, may be able to squeeze another session in here before the Seasons end , or a few sessions up Claerwen possibly , spot on ,a nice chill out . . . . .

Well a glorious day when I was out with the pooch at seven , decided to plumb for the Edw at Hundred House , give it a bash, jobs done at the Ponderosa set off, arriving at the bridge at half nine, positively late for me !!!!

River looked a picture and was running at a lovely height, 16 degreees in my truck, and initially overcast too, the river had that usual brown tinge to it !! No upwings about till around eleven , so initially fished a tiny single flashback PTN , and interest from the off , missing the first one , but contacted with the usual stamp of Edw fish in the next section of broken water , a plump nine inch fish , lovely start !!!

Fished the PTN and 16 Parachute Adams all morning , alternating when dry or nymph may score better , and some lovely splashy takes this morning too in the faster water , also in some of the shallower glides , hammering the Adams with an explosive take . . . . . Super job !!!!

The morning was eventful and although I was super slow this morning , did maybe just over half the beat , for eleven lovely brownies, ranging in sizes from.six to ten inches , also five or six tiny parr too !!! Nice to see so many in here , great for the future of this little steam. . .

There is a lot of alder and willow down across some cracking water , and this beat is beginning to be a bit of a mess to be honest , needs half a dozen folks here for the morning , and some heavy cutting and tidying up, back to what it used to be like !!!

Still a cracking four hours sport , always willing brownies here to smash a well placed dry , just what it's all about , cracking stuff , back on one of the lower beats of the Edw next week , happy days !!!!
