River looked in good condition, fairly clear but not too low. Lost a nice grayling within five minutes of starting and took an hour to locate the next one. Fish were rising on and off but I stuck with nymphing tactics and caught a succession of grayling between 8 and 17 inches long. (The largest one I would guess was approaching the 2lb mark, if not just over) Also landed a very lively 12 inch brownie. Successful flies were red tag, pink beaded PTN and waterhen bloa fished on a conventional rod and reel with one 12 inch grayling taken on a tenkara rod armed with a partridge and orange. All fish returned.

Arrived at midday to find a chocolate river very high - the grassy island at Aberbwtran Pool had almost completely disappeared. Seems all of the morning's rain must have fallen on the Irfon catchment, as the Wye webcam at Erwood was showing normal levels in the morning - that changed a lot by the afternoon. Headed to the Arrow in search of something fishable.

A halycon afternoon spent on this tributary of the upper Wye. Didn't connect with any fish but this was probably the result of having to limit our fishing to early afternoon with bright sunlight, no breeze and fairly low water conditions. I can see it is classic grayling water, with a deep channel opposite the main gravel island, shaded with overhanging trees. Would definitely like to return to this water when timings and maybe water levels more conducive.

Fished 3-6pm....its been 5 years since I fished this beat and you need to be left handed or ambidextrous but it has some good fish, trout and grayling. Fish rising but hard to get to both on size 16 parachute Adams. Worth the walk.

Lovely day, fished entire beat on various beaded nymphs, no sign of any fish - must be hiding somewhere!

A really successful day, first for a while, with 3 nice wild brownies with the biggest at over 2lbs. An early start, heavy cloud and cooler weather all conspired to help.

A lovely scenic stretch though rather short and suiting the shorter session. A nice colour to the river with some extra water giving good conditions. No one told the fish though and struggled for 3 small brownies ( 2 on nymphs, 1 on spider) before the clouds began to look menacing and I called it a day.

Fished for about an hour over lunchtime. The river was a little high, making most of the beat inaccessible.
Caught one rising trout, on a grey duster klinkhammer, in the top pool.

I needed to visit Fishtec in person, then went to this beat for the first time. The river was very fast flowing and slightly coloured, but not as high as it obviously had been. I had a couple of hours fishing weighted shrimp flies in the calmer parts, but not with much confidence. I hope to visit later in the year.
