Cold but enjoyable even without finding any grayling. Interesting to see that no grayling have been caught here since February!
River was running quite low and clear. Saw 3 kingfishers which is always a delight and hope they had more luck.
0830-1430 session.

Regrettably I lost a none retrievable nymph in a willow directly opposite the down stream car parking place - personal pet hate is seeing lost kit on the bank so apologies.

Beautiful day out in glorious countryside, but drew a blank - attempting to find grayling on French Leader with various nymphs.

Bright and sunny day with a couple of very short-lived showers. River high & murky after recent, welcome rainfall. So there was no clarity and as this was my first visit to this beat, it restricted my movements as I don't know where crossing points are and so on. And it was deep and fast, so I didn't want to risk it! But it was spectacularly beautiful. I saw buzzards and a red kite directly overhead. And then a kingfisher zoomed up-river right past me - and back down again. Caught one OOS brown trout around 6oz on a pink shrimp. Not the grayling I was after, but a special fish nonetheless. Returned to the water very quickly and in perfect condition. I will definitely be back when the water has regained its clarity. Thanks WUF and landowner for enabling access to a magical stretch of the Ithon. Great parking directions as well, thank you.

A really fun session ... initially started off quite when I bowled up at eleven bells....The day soon warmed up ..got to 17 degrees !!!
Fish responded to dries ftom sbout half twelve yo two ... Lovely to see the Ithon with some fresh water in it, and pushing through too .
Fish nailed my dries in the short window of feeding, which is as expected in these colder mornings !!
Got to minus 2 in Rhayader the last few nights ....log burner time most definately lol ....
Nice to see the kingfisher up and down as well. Probably feeding up heavily on minnows prior to a long winter ahead!!!
I'll try another stream tommorrow, then its just the big wild lakes of the Elan, Bugeilyn and Nantymoch. Thr variety is vast for clients, right up to October 17th .... great stuff !!
Well, I think this callsign deserves a large Baileys coffee, a fun three and a half hours on an old favourite.

School boy error today !!! Was almost perfect wild reservoirs weather, with a nice whippy wind too ... mild, muggy just perfect ....
However, muggins went to the Ithon instead...still fun, but tricky dry fly presentation ... in fact very tricky !!! She's up a bit on the level... not loads ...We need a good weeks worth of rain to give this old girl a good flush through!!!!!
Fishing was fun in some of the pools ... one pool j winkled three fish out of it ... A splashy rise in the slow tail out ... great stuff !! Then another in the foam lane and one more right up in the bubbly stuff !!! The other three were innthr bubbly stuff at thr pool heads ...If you can call them pools now, at just over knee depth for some of them !!!
Still a fun five hours sport ... slow going, waiting fof the wind gusts to die down, to get a cast in !!!
Six brownies, of the usual stamp for here to the net, and a couple of salmon parr !!! They're feisty little things and, more than happy to nail a well presented fly ..
In fairness ive had a few salmon parr here this season ... boades well to be honest !!!
Back on one of the Arrow beats on Sunday.... Happy days.......

A client day for me on what was a very very low River Ithon ... Wales seems to be missing all this decent rainfall!!! Aarrrgggggghhhhh we desperately need it .... Anyway, in fairness, Rob Alp from London fished extremely ....Taking on board the need for ultimate stealth and presentation to rising fish !!!
I dipped the river with my thermometer ...a very healthy 14 degrees ... cracking !!!
Olives and small sedge on the go from half eleven , and fish responding to well presented dries !
Rob brought to the net seven brownies, had a futher two long range releases and some salmon parr ...
In fact thr young trout snd salmon parr abound this beat at the mo, really good too see. What isn't good is thick beds of bright green algae ... needs a dam good flush through, and soon too !!!
My client did have a cracking day too be honest .... Up in the Elenydd tommorrow ... choices choices, .... but, a sortie at the top of Claerwen Reservoir I think is in order .... lovely jubbley !!
A great guiding day on an old favourite beat ... These streams are low .... The outflows of the Elan and claerwen will be on the agenda if the dry conditions continue !! Last season, both rivers were very sporting with visiting clients....Right, this callsign is ready for a very well earned bottle of Thatchers Gold !!!! Cheers ....lol ....
