Slow going today. Did a bit of exploring on the right bank, finding the old path down to the boat pool. It wasn’t really worth it in these conditions though. A lot of gloopy weed and algae all along the river there. Managed to raise a couple of good grayling to an Adams klinkhammer elsewhere which was unusual.

River very low. Fished for three hours in the morning only then sun too strong to warrant any further effort. Chub, dace, perch all to trotted sweetcorn and castors/ hempseed. Although a very short beat, with another foot of water on, some colour and cloud cover, potentially could produce better results.

Lovely fishery but lack of rain telling on the river. Little signs of fish of any species, the mostly bright conditions just added to the challenge. Even the falling light levels at the end of the day did nothing to bolster our efforts and in the end my daughter and I had no fish gracing our net but we left with lovely memories of a pleasant picnic by the river!

Gorgeous beat, so much life there. My daughter inbetween fishing was catching minnows, stone loaches and bullheads in the shallows . Saw a massive shoal of around 500 mini barbel swim past us both and I've never seen that before and is a good indication for the future. Both barbel caught rolling meat and the eel of around 1.5lb also took the meat. Wildlife was phenomenal, my thanks to the owner for a super little beat.

Once I eventually found the barbel holed up in a single spot it turned out to be a great session. Most fish around the 4lb mark.
