Overnight 1m rise in levels meant a change of plan from trotting to ledger and pellet feeder. Fished from the Croy at the upstream end all day with barbel coming late morning and chub throughout. Others were an eel and a huge dace.

Didn’t hold out much hope to fish the Wye so had booked a wild stream the previous evening. As expected The Rocks was unfishable so took a drive east to Upper Grywne Fawr which I had fished several years before. Although quite overgrown there were some pools and pocket water that you could cast to especially in the bottom half of the beat. Took 4 fish and rose several others, so this wild stream rescued what otherwise was a challenging end of season visit to the WUF. I’ll be back to my wash offs for Grayling before the end of the year.

Evening ticket. Fished the 2 pools up to the bridge. Water clarity and summer levels made this less daunting. Stuck to midges and emergers. I tried out a new 12' 6x tapered leader from "Get Slotted"- only a quid - it worked really well until I tried a sherry spinner pattern that tied it up in knots- needs a swivel or a heavier bit of mono I guess. There were a few rising fish & plenty of bug life. Had 1 take but that was it- too slow again!

A two foot rise at MHC for our trip giving it a lovely colour and pace and the recent drop in water temperature, plus mostly overcast skies suggested we might have finally hit it sock on. Two fished for 2 1/2 hours in the morning and had 2 barbel each and 4 chub, one top one bottom. Met the other two for a nice lunch in the White Lion and returned to fish 1400 to 1930. 2 more for one of the morning guys and 3 barbel & 10 chub for one of the afternooners both down the bottom. The top two had 10 each plus Chub. Most caught on gb feeder with 10mm halibuts but this died later with a change to glugged boillies producing 3 late fish for one. Nice chat with Stefan off to do some strimming ready for the forecast water rise. Keep up the great work. 12 was my number.
A very good day.

We had a lovely morning on Craigypistyll, fish were rising in patches all morning, and we were successful on dry daddies and hoppers . The fish were very fit and went well , best about 3/4lb. All safely returned.
After lunch we popped to Frongoch for an hour or so where we managed 3 rainbows and 2 browns all safely returned. Fish were all on tiny buzzers there.
A big thanks to AAA again for well run Llyns .
