A very hot day on the river which started very slowly but eventually managed some small Chub on the float at the top end but the generator noise precludes prolonged fishing in this area.
Early afternoon was somewhat marred by a scouts canoe group doing capsize training a few yards down from my chosen swim. I was about to move to avoid the chaos when my rod hooped around, and so began what was to be a noisy, chaotic yet productive afternoon/evening.
After 3 hours the canoes moved on and I had a pleasant late afternoon evening of Barbel and Chub sport.
It appears that the Barbel were shoaled up as the two other anglers I was with could only find Chub and Eels.

Written on behalf on the other two anglers that I booked on to join me. Moved around on the float all morning taking the odd Chub and then settled down on the feeder for the afternoon. One angler suffered the extraction generator noise close to the top end caught some Chub and eels but at least avoided the canoe carnage.
The other angler fished lower down in the more flowing water but for three hours endured the noise and disturbance of a scout group living their best lives. It's great to see young people having so much fun but 3 hours of screaming and capsizing canoes is not conducive to a good days fishing.
We are not new to summer fishing the Wye and fully expect the canoes to come through but landing on the opposite bank for 3 hours without a thought to anglers spoilt the afternoon. There are some signs further upstream about canoe landing being prohibited but there needs to be more signs, particularly where there are gravel beech areas where canoes can easily be landed. This would make it easier for anglers to politely request that they heed the signs and move on.
A great beat in general but not the best day on this particular occasion.

Another heatwave day on the bank. Water levels now low and still dropped off. Made for not a great day for Barbel. Fished another fishery previous for 2 days no Barbel for me and the same here. Tried 3 different swims with a bit of flow. Chub in one of those swims were attacking the bait before reaching bottom. 18 chub in total not weighed biggest around 4lb most were around 3lb to 3lb 8oz a couple of Chublet's. Barbel completely of the feed. Sounds disappointing because come for the Barbel but hay 18 Chub is a decent haul. All hair rigged on various pellets.

A productive day here and steady sport…Very light boat traffic which was a touch surprising but good and some entertainment provided by the resident Sand Martins who zoomed around all day… Not good news here though is a new swim has been created on the opposite bank of the beach area and another angler fished here for a couple of hours in the evening… Best Barbel was probably 8lb and some of the Chub were 4lb plus…Will be interesting to see how the fishing pans out here with the extra pressure.

Very, very hot but fished well, given the temperatures of 30/31 degrees. Plenty of Chub all day to luncheon meat or pellet. One barbel at dusk. It was just to hot for us and the Barbel.
