Spent half the day in search of pike dropping a deadbait in 3 likely slack areas & same areas again later in the day without any luck. Tried an hour lure fishing, no luck, just a follow to the bank from a small pike, better luck next time maybe? River was in fishable conditon given the amount of rain we've had. River banks very very slippy so do take a spike & rope with you on your next trip. Many thanks to Colin for the chat, river conditions & information he gave me, also to the Foundations booking service. It's so easy.

River slightly risen, some colour. Nymph used. Cold 2-3C, rain most day. No fish rise, no sights of tales, only few ships and crazy little pony observed my misery. Will check later this month again. Thanks!

We had booked a 2 day trip to the Wye a couple of weeks previously and traveled up from Portsmouth as we usually do. As such we have to take what ever conditions prevail on the day. The river was very high and fast flowing. We checked out the swim in front of the Courtfield which (as advised by WUF in a previous catch report) had some slack water close in. We then checked out the Meadow area and found 3 or 4 swims that also had fishable areas close in. As there were two of us we decided to fish here. Impossible to hold bottom out from the bank due to the flow and debris coming down the river. I caught a barbel of around 5lb on pellet within the first hour so all looked promising. My friend lost a fish around 1pm. Rained all day pretty heavily, we packed up about 2pm wet but not defeated! We will be back again.
Thanks to Denise and Tony at the Jovial Colliers in Lydbrook for looking after us again.

River just starting to drop but still carrying lots of debris. 1 barbel hooked, but unfortunately lost in marginal snags.

River very high and charging through after recent rain, rose 2-3 feet during the day, far from ideal and mostly unfishable by dusk. A few swims at the top of the beat (upstream) fishable at a rod length out in slack water. One barbel of around 7lbs, and two fish lost.

River almost unfishable due to hight, pace and colour. Fished the morning at the top half of fishery but struggled to hold bottom even with 5oz feeders. Did manage to find a slack pool towards the bottom of the stretch and managed to hook 5 barbel but only landed 2 nice 7/8lb barbel. Both fish came to feeder and pellet. Very hard day but loved every min of it! can't wait to get back in March. Great access. Many thanks to Wye and Usk yet again.
