Semi fixed Bolt Rig with Halibut pellet - River quite high , fast flowing and dark brown/chocolate in colour. All fish in superb condition, only one showing signs of being caught before. Barbel on Saturday around the 5-7lb mark, only one weighed which was spot on nine pound.

Caught 2 barbel on meat and 2 on pellet feeder. 2 x 6lb, 1 x 8lb and 1 x 10lb 6oz. 2 chub caught and lots of chubby knocks and rattles. River dropped a foot during day and it was becoming difficult to land fish as banks very slippery - take care! Love the WUF waters but there were not many fishable swims and it is misleading to say that this is double bank fishing (WUF please clarify on your beat details) as there is no access to the left bank - it just means you won't have anyone fishing opposite. I had the same issue at Middle Hill Court on a previous booking.

The river was high, fast and coloured but just about fishable in the slacks near the bank. Unfortunately no fish caught. Getting ground bait and casting into a good position was tricky in the very fast flow, so I suspect the barbel were in faster water than we were able to fish. Lovely river and a really enjoyable day.

In the first 15 minutes of first light, I had a dead bait very large mackerel and had a big hit on my road with a long run and pulled the hook - gutted!

Fished this beat end of last week on Sunday, water level down a foot and a half and had fined down since then, but the water temperature had dropped from 57 deg to 48 deg also. Took a friend who has never fished for barbel. We managed 2 at 7lb and 4lb both to my rod. Both on pellet and small PVA bags of mixed sizes of pellets. Hard fishing but enjoyable, thanks to Don fishery owner with some advise on the day.

River was very high and fast. Eventually found 2 swims which were very difficult to fish but only real options after a 3 hour journey. Fished all day and in to darkness as there is always a chance on the Wye but no fish to report sadly.

Must agree with others, the walk back to the top parking is a killer to say the least, especially after a long wet muddy blank. That's fishing though and we will be back next year for sure.

River high but Legg Meadow fishable on inside line. Caught a big eel estimated 4lb+ on meat and a barbel just under 9lb on pellet. One other barbel lost. Probably should have tried a few more swims.

Got on bank around 12-30, river still high but the muddy colour had eased and you could see vegetation 2ft down. Chose first swim over bridge, pellet/feeder fishing on a hair rig was a real pain to get back, because the flow pushed feeder and hook deep into bank side snags!! Opted for straight lead (4oz) and a paste of ground Elips pellets and a binding agent.

I used a big heavy bait dropper to put in regular small numbers of 10mm pellets, nothing for the first 4hrs !!!
then 2 reasonable Barbel all in the last hour. Quite happy with that bearing in mind it was very cold last night and the barometer was well over 1012. Think I will give the maggot a go next time, may induce a few silver fish to feed ?
