What a difference a day makes. Arrived 6am on a fine crisp morning and started by baiting up before setting up our rods. We all started near the orchard and nearest field. Tom got 3 nice chub (4lbish) before 7:30am. Darren had a chub at 8:30, again 4lbish, I had an eel and a dace early on before the sun came up. Then lots of weed started coming down making fishing very hard with it catching the lines. Darren had another chub at around 1pm while I had a lovely barbel 8lb from a very snaggy area near where you park the car. Lost 2 larger fish that got round the trees near the edge - one must have been well over 10lb, it's head was huge. Did try further downstream but only got small chub and dace.
After 4pm the weed got less. Tom got 3 more good chub while Nick and Darren went to field next to car park. At 6pm Darren had an 8lb barbel and Nick got 3 barbel, one after another the biggest being 10lb+(still smiling now). I had 1 more chub 3lb and 2 barbel of about 6lb before packing up tired and battle weary.
Once again a great beat. Just the clear skies and non stop weed made it a very hard day. Overall the last 2 days between 4 rods: 20 + barbel and 15+ chub in low water, bright conditions. Well worth the lack of sleep. Thanks again WUF. We stayed at Grafton Travelodge, £16 a man cheap as chips!!

10am Wall Pool - Grilse hooked and lost by a guest this morning on a size 10 Black and Orange Cascade. It seems the River has slightly more peat stain in it than Sunday so expect there was a shower in the upper catchment?

1 nice Chub and a small Barbel. 3 anglers got permission from the farmer to fish the afternoon (after a dreadfull tackle-losing morning on WUF Kerne Bridge) though I was the only WUF booking here, and successfully landed a 9lbs 5oz and a 7lbs barbel and a few others from the fast water swims off the concrete walkway. Caught on spam and light tackle and no Wye experience before. Well done them as it was 2ft up and really pushing. I plonked in after they'd gone early and remained biteless into dark. A 5oz pellet feeder needed with constant bits of weed a real pain in the flow and elsewhere. I suspect an effort to get up off my elsewhere and walk the top deeper slower beat (though now with more pace) would have been productive! The Wye got the better of my laziness.

I fished for salmon with fly above and below the Rock without result while my companion coarse fished below the Chime. I caught nothing but M had a chub of 5lb 15oz. This is the biggest chub I have seen for a long time.

No salmon caught or seen. The river was very quiet apart from a few tiny trout rising in the Bridge Pool.
