A hard days fishing with few bites. Hadn't fished here for 2 years and there seems to be far fewer large fish around. Fished 3 usually productive swims but proved difficult in all. The chub came to feeder pellet tactics in the deeper swims well past the garden. The barbel came to rolled meat in the fast shallows at the start of the beat. Barbel was just over 8lbs.

1 Barbel, 4 Chub

Perfect conditions. Slightly risen river, a little colour, humid to cool weather, a little drizzle, but sunshine too. Banks a little slippery, rope proved handy.
Barbel (from 3 to 8lb) and Chub (several big fish around the 6lb mark) all falling to pellets (varied) on feeder and ledger.
Trotted corn produced some lovely Dace, Chub to 2lb and a superb one and a half pound trout.
Two Perch (one 2lb+) fell to Stret Pegged corn, supplemented with small pellets.
A truly memorable day. The river at its finest. Some blobs of foam coming through throughout day. Not sure this was sinister.

Fished from 12:30 - 6pm spinning with mepps. Hooked 4 but landed 2 nice rainbow trout. Slighlty smaller fish than last year but they put up a better fight!! Seemed to have the water to ourselves.

fairly limited in fishable swims when the water is up and pushing through - still no sign of the owner making any effort to improve aceess to the river

10 Chub

Usual spot in the woods. Good day for it, weather overcast and decent water level. Feeder and pellets etc did the trick. Two fish in first two casts then a bit steadier. Best fish 8 and a half pounds. Lost 3 more to snags and hook pulls.

All fish caught using the Duo with most of the fish taking the nymph. The biggest was my seasons best at 19” and in great condition.

6 Trout

Looking for a silver tourist! No joy … but brownies were certainly looking up, 17 to hand best 16”, all safely returned. Great fun on a lovely beat. The access is superb … spectacular styles … and wading is easy on this beat. Otter seen … and swimming squirrel. Cormorant and goosanders not so welcome. The 17 fish all took the same fly which also took 12 on the Wye last week … a size 14 grey parachute, one to keep in the fly box.
