The Combe beat of the Hindwell consists of over a mile of this upper Lugg tributary. The setting is fantastic – meandering along the floodplain and shadowed by Wapley Hill. Like Knill, it is easy wading over the gravel riverbed and will hold its flow even in summer.
The beat holds good numbers of wild brown trout with grayling occasionally showing up in catches too.

Ideally fished with a 6 to 7ft, 2 to 3wt rod.
