12 degree air temperature, 9.6 degree water bit quite clear. Fished 4 swims and had the only bite from a 4lb Chub an hour before close. Fished same swims I had 3 fish from last week.

Lovely winter venue (and I imagine a glorious summer one!...). Parking good and route along track/s solid. Met Stephan the bailiff early on who was helpful and informative. Weather mild and overcast with river at 1.33m on Ross gauge, and hopes were up. Fished the bottom swim, and two swims halfway up by gates / ramp. All fish came from bottom swim on feeder with spam or bunch maggots. Lost one chub to submerged snag, and pulled out of what I suspect was a barbel.
Failed to land any barbel today, but that's how it goes sometimes! Caught a 10lb pike when reeling in for the last time (for a moment I thought it may have been a seat trout when I saw a silvery flash in the dim light of evening!).

A cloudy and very windy day, which made float fishing quite difficult.
Four of the grayling were of a good size, one of which weighed in at 1lb 140z, the other two were very small.
The out of season brownies, were all around a pound or less.
It's a very different river this season, not sure what's happened to all the grayling in the 8oz-1lb weight category that were present last year?

Limited access to river, some pegs have been created but I would say more needed. No bites all day

Hard work fishing from first to last light, on a wet, windy, grey, Mid-Walian day for a few bites.
River level at mid-range(?), falling (0.68-0.69m Cilmery gauge, but the drop during the day seemed more) and water nearly crystal-clear by dusk.
Five ladies, most over a pound, to 1:10 on maggot on our first visit to this river. A bit tougher than expected.
Covered nearly all of the stretch, but be aware that due to recent erosion you need to wade across and then back, to access the whole length. This was OK today but would not need much more water on to make it unviable. The new fence at the upstream end makes access very difficult to the upper quarter and we could not cover the last 200m to the sewage works. Likewise at the lower end, where we could not work out the access so waded (just) to the wrong bank to get a look.
Lovely scenery (mizzle allowing!). The few fish we did catch came from deeper slower pools and faster water.
We would have fished the gutters as advertised in the beat's description...but coming from a coarse-fishing background I have no idea what these are!
Landowner extremely helpful after a vehicle incident unrelated to the fishery.

Although the river conditions and weather were favourable, the fish were reluctant to feed.
Water visibility was good so perhaps should have acquired some maggots. Occasional taps and rattles using pellets but all fish fell to sweetcorn used with a ground bait feeder.

River level was good. A blustery day. I struggled to access river as I am too old for this now. Managed one grayling and one osb, leaded nymphs, but a better angler would have caught much more as conditions and river were pretty good. Probably my last ever river trip, unfortunately.
Fishing Passport Note : Take a look at The Colonels Water up at Llanwyrtyd Wells... very easy access here.
