a challenging mornings fishing, Mainly fished beaded PTN's and spiders but didnt see any fish and certainly didnt look like catching anything. Reasonably easy access to the water but the barbed wire fencing in places was a bit worrying in expensive waders... very tight in some places with the overhanging trees but I am sure guys who are used to fishing this type of water (I am not one of them yet) would have had no problems here and probably caught a bagful...

Our first time fishing this beat and the river was still about 1m up and coloured following heavy rains. A beautiful stretch of river with a good number of accessible swims. We were feeder fishing and most bites came later in the day after regularly introducing bait. The game keeper paid a visit who was a really nice guy and very helpful. Other fish was a large eel.

Surprisingly low water considering last week’s rain. No surface activity & no response to prospecting with dry fly & nymph on lower part of beat during an enjoyable afternoon, but there is a far better fisherman than me on this beat!

River still high (15” on Brecon gauge); running fast but clear and cold. No self respecting trout was going to waste energy in the fast water so worked down the beat exploring the pockets of calmer water with a PTN - without success. Focused on the deeper pools. Some olives coming off which attracted the attention of the occasional fish - but nothing for me. One more trip before the end of the season!
