Torrential rain the previous day and overnight (coupled with the opening of a dam in Wales) presented a river with a height and flow of Biblical proportions which even Noah would have found challenging. It had burst its bank at the bottom end of the beat with the field partly flooded but managed to find a single 100 yard stretch which was just fishable in the margin. The rest of the beat was totally unfishable. Managed to land 8 chub all on meat/meat pellet on the feeder.
Despite the rain very much liked the ease of access to this beat and the ability to drive its entire length.

Brilliant morning at Beacons Resevoir what a beautiful place. arrived at 8am in torrential rain but the fish were enjoying the fresh influx of water and it wasnt long till I had a lovely Brown of about 1.5lb on my dry fly sedge pattern and a great cartwheeling scrap it gave as well.
Working my way round the shallow bays I managed to pick off 5 lovely Browns in total losing 2 and missing a couple of takes .
All on the dry fly using a single fly my own tied sedge pattern .
Nice average size with 3 over a 1lb .
Will be back soon

River continued to rise steadily from the previous day. Only stopped rising at about 17:00 just below the top of the bank. Holding bottom with 6-8oz leads just off the slacks.
11 Barbel and 2 Chub caught. If you could find them they were still feeding. Excellent couple of days on this very consistent and well managed beat.
11 Barbel, 2 Chub
