River low and clear and relatively hard going for the two of us. We found grayling shoaled up in deeper areas across the stretch. A few trout as well. All fish on maggot.

Blanked for the first time this season!!!!
Had a mobile approach as thought I might have to locate the fish - tried 7 swims but to no avail. The beat has either been cleared at bankside or the vegetation has just died away. This is a lovely beat with at least 10 swims to go at.
Water temperature was 9.4C but there was just no activity in the river - it just felt like nobody was home!!!

Mild Feb day, light breeze. Travelled light and explored the beat. Feeder or small lead and meat. Had several knocks in water next to the field below the woods. Two promising fish lost and a single chub which, as they say, saved the day. Old wooden steps down from the meadow replaced - much safer now

Lovely day on the river as usual.
Water still low and clear by winter standards but mild conditions meant the fish fed steadily from midday onwards.
Ben - 4 Barbel to 8lb and 4 Chub to 4lb 12oz.
Mitch - 3 Barbel to 8lb 8oz, 2 Chub to 4lb 5oz and 1 bonus Grayling.
Bruce - 12 Chub to 4lb 14oz and 1 Barbel 7lb 13oz.
Had a crack at the pike in the morning but no action to report.
Thanks again to Stefan for the excellent swim maintenance.
Look forward to getting back here in September.

A glorious day to be out anywhere let alone on the banks of the Wye and with a 9 degree air and 7.7 degree water temperature my expectations were high, although the water was crystal clear.
A blank hour halfway down the straight meant a move to the bend where I had 4 good chub on the stick with hemp and maggot. Two short sessions on the feeder in swims below produced nothing so I moved back up to the last swim on the straight. Just as I'd returned chub number 5 caught on the feeder Colin the ghillie turned up. I had number 6 whilst chatting to him and he advised trying the steps to end the day. I pulled out of another good chub after he'd gone and nearly didn't move but it did look more barbely where he suggested so I trusted his judgement. Good job as half hour later I had a rattly drop back on maggot feeder and managed to hang onto a 6lb barbel to end a lovely February day on the river.
1 Barbel, 6 Chub
