Novice angler so don’t blame the fish for the zero catch return on a very unpromising weather day

Fished this beat yesterday, easy to find and great access down the far end to your swims. Fished the beach section near the bridge, nice location but fairly quiet. A lot of weed coming down in the water made it quite difficult on the feeder. Again in certain parts very snaggy but that is the nature of the Wye. Very very expensive not sure the beat is worth the price. Few fish during the day biggest a chub of about 3/4lbs

A cold start , but soon warmed up - started off on the float and maggot and caught a Dace/ chublet a cast for a few hours in the fast water below the bridge. A few good chub and barbel spotted from the bridge but were easily spooked in the low conditions. Fished the bottom end in the afternoon and had 10 decent Chub and one Barbel around 7lb.

Beat:Doldowlod
Fishing:Trout (River)

Difficult day on the Wye, we tried lots of nymph patterns nothing seemed to work. Then I tried a dry and had an immediate take from a grayling, which I failed to make contact with, thinking I'd cracked it I persevered on the dry for another hour with no success.
Switched to dry again on the upper part of the beat and finally managed three grayling, and a small trout between us.
Wading on the upper section was very slippery on the large boulders.

Difficult conditions on a low clear river but I persisted with luncheon meat on float tackle picking up a couple of chub with the biggest nudging 5lbs. About half an hour after sunset I had a barbel around 5-6lbs. The steps cut into the bank are a very useful feature of this fishery.

Back on yet another fantastic beat on the WUF portfolio, having not visited this beat previously it was with anticipation as i drove down a very dark lane to the entrance to the beat, having loaded my gear i headed left into the woods to try and find a decent spot, unfortunately there weren't that many to choose from as they were either overgrown or due to the very low river conditions difficult to reach the water, regardless i managed to find one suitable, a bit of mountaineering and gardening and i was set or so i thought, although it had a bit of flow only to find out it was quite shallow, half hour later and no bites it was time for a move, i headed back through the woods into the field and found a good peg only to find it was also the cow's watering hole, thinking i might get trampled by a herd of cows i opted against it and moved on a little ways to the next peg, after settling in and after a few casts later i had my first indicating and struck into a good fish "a Barbel " finally and after a great fight she was in the net, after resting and a quick photo she was returned and rested again to the river.
By this time the sun was rising burning off the mist at the same time, unfortunately turns out that it was going to be my only bite of the day, the sun revealed a very shallow stretch of water in front of me, that said i persevered until noon and then decided to cut my losses and return home early. The fish weighed 8lb 12oz caught on legered meat and fed hemp and pellet.
Thanks again to the WUF and land owner for giving us great access to a lovely beat and all the wildlife within.
