Not able to fish due to Algae bloom turning water peat brown, providing very very limited visability into water. It even discoloured the neck of a swan whilst feeding.

Fished p.m. & evening. Chat with friendly farmer checking his sheep, which he said were fond of the himalayan balsam on the banks! Plenty of fly life with a good fall of spinners in the evening, but little visible activity from fish. Only contact was a long range release late in the day of one of the few rising trout seen. Many substantial trees have been felled along the section above the upper bridge, where I came across a dead buzzard and a dead white-clawed crayfish.

Great day, the fish had evidently done their homework over the winter. They were in all the right place, rising gently to the very varied hatch, BWO, sedges, smaller Upwings and even better, my Klink; and the odd mayfly, which they ignored. Largest about 12" and a couple of 6".
The water was beautifully clear but surprisingly low and the surrounding countryside was quite dry.
It really is a lovely river & the Seven Stars does an incomparable Butty Bach.

After the Edw beat this was a return to reality, the hatch was intermittent & the few rising fish were very shy. Maybe I was in too much of a hurry. One 8" making a splashy rise in the fast water at the tail of a pool. It was also bright sunshine.
Too many excuses but a lovely bit of water.
