Low clear water (17 degrees C) and bright sun: a few fish seen but they weren't feeding and certainly spotted me first!

Conditions seemed perfect, over cast and still but nobody told the fish. Foul hooked two trout on a nymph which I would think qualifies as trawling rather than fishing. Zero hatches or surface activity. Perhaps the evening was more productive
Beautiful beat

Conditions not too bad given the recent weather but the lack of water made for a tough day with two blanks. Did manage to winkle out one barbel just under 6lb on a soaked elips dumbell. The insistence on breakfast in the White Lion rather than an early start didn't aid catching chances but these trips aren't just about the fishing. A great three days on the Wye....

Extremely skinny water - probably not worth fishing again until late season after some good rains. Had one take on a dry but otherwise no fish sighted

Beat:Usk Reservoir
Fishing:Trout (Stillwater)
No. of Anglers:1
Fly & spinner from 0800. Drizzle clearing , not much wind. 2 trout on spinner first thing, lost a third. A few fish moving. After 0900 absolutely nothing. Packed in at 1030. Daytime in mid-summer is usually not very productive - need to be very early or very late. Probably won’t go again until September.
