The river is very low (0.57 on the Erwood gauge) and there is very little flow in the pools to swing a fly. We didn’t see any salmon, but two small trout saved a blank. The sheltered area at the shepherds hut gave very welcome respite from the frequent heavy showers.

Tough fishing today , strong wind…. fished the lower sections . Managed 9 Trout no Grayling . Had fish on nymph and dries . Saw a good few pale wateries later in the day lots of spinners too and stone fly .

I was fishing Tenkara-style, has anybody else fished this method on these small wild streams? It’s well worth it. Beautiful beat, wading easy but slippery. Saw a number of rises worked my way upriver and back down again to my car. Took a couple on a small Klink.
