Bright sunny day, gentle breeze, river low and clear. Started nymph fishing at about 11.30 caught a 1lb fish soon after. By noon olives had started to hatch. Put on a dry, by 3pm, when the hatch dwindled, I had netted 4 more fish, all around a pound or slightly less. As is typical, the best fish came off, it was clear to see whilst playing it.( about 1.5lb)
A very pleasant day.

Back on the beautiful Abernant beat.
Love this location.
Fished hard for a salmon on fly and spinning, but no takers.
Vicious gusty wind blowing straight down the river. When this eased and the sun came out lots of LDO and March Browns coming off, but fish reluctant to rise.
Put the salmon kit away and got out the #4. Fished a klinkhammer for an hour and managed 5 grayling, largest about 10 inches.
Called it a day when the showers started to get heavy.

Only one little brownie today- a tad over 1/2lb. Lovely day but cold and breezy. Few little hatches of March browns, so just tried to match as good as I could. Only saw 3 fish surface all day. Netted one, spooked another and the third was while having lunch.
Perhaps should have switched to emergers or nymphs- but they are both new to me!

40 mile an hour winds, no fish seen or caught.
Note to WUF, why cant the parking be just by the railway bridge before the gate, the amount of slurry you had to drive through was crazy and if the cattle were to be in the field where you parked it would be dangerous.
There is plenty of space to park before the cow field without impeding any of the farmers machinery.
