A chilly but bright day and the river pushing through as expected....Only one rod fished and a solitary Chub caught...Last hour produced a couple of tentative fast bites both of which were missed...Always a pleasure to fish here though and a great place to finish the season...

The river was very high and coloured. Most of the beat was far too dangerous to fish. However, great news, The gravel catch was fishable and I managed a thoroughly enjoyable hour. No real prospect of a fish, but wonderful to be on the river so early in the year.
FOUND - a pair of wader boots
The following boots were on the side of the road on the Gromain Beat. I have put them in the main Gromain hut.

The river was high and the water colder than expected when I arrived and the height increased by nearly half a metre during the afternoon. I settled into the only really fishable swim and had three half-hearted bites in the session, giving me a solitary chub. Unsurprisingly, the barbel did not show up.

A cold downstream wind for most of the day. A very sparse hatch of LDOs that didn't last but fish did target them and we had some sport on the dries. Spiders also accounted for some fish. Best fish was around 2lbs, most others in the 8-12 inches bracket. Great to be back on the water!

A complete blank between two Anglers in reasonable conditions, very disappointing. I believe the River is suffering badly due to the well documented pollution issues. Please note that entry through the gate into the field is no longer possible due to very deep Troughs, presumably caused by Farm vehicles and so parking is only available for 2 Vehicles. Until this is rectified the Foundation should inform Anglers of the situation. I recommend the Foundation pay a visit to see for themselves

First day of the season! 8C max temp. Hard to tell when the mist ended and the drizzle began. No wind. River a little high and fast but running clear. A couple of hours speculating with a PTN but action started around 13:00 and lasted for an hour. Olives and tiny white beasties (not sure correct name) hatching in the slower water of Llanoberry Pool. Fish rising all over the place! Three to the net on size 18 Grey Duster; dropped a few more and missed several takes. Need a couple more trips to get my eye in. All fish in excellent condition for so early in the season.
