Beat:Beacons Reservoir

Fishing:Trout (Stillwater)

Fished all areas of the reservoir, most particularly concentrating on the western bank. Generally good, mixed weather with cloud cover and stiff breeze. Fished both deep and surface using a mix of patterns including imitative and attractor patterns. Only one fish seen moving on the top. Fished all afternoon and into the evening with only one take just below the surface late afternoon. Temperature fell quickly after 5pm when the sun dropped below the mountains and trees.

Due to low water level, access around the water is possible with care and waders, though casting is tricky in places because of trees and vegetation on the banks.

Although no fish caught, a very enjoyable afternoon’s fishing in great scenery. Parking was convenient via the lay-by close to the dam.

Water rising, but still low, and no sign of fish moving. One trout, no sign of the salmon. A day more of hope than expectation. The bridge pool looked very promising, but no sign of life. Good to see the pub was open!
