First time ever on the river but the conditions weren’t favourable as it was so very, verylow and bright. Some parts were just like a wide canal!
Fished from 1pm and hardly saw a fish rise all day but stuck it out till evening. There was definitely a bit more activity after 7pm but I had to leave at 8pm, but had a few takes in some faster water at the top of the beat on a dry sedge and hooked a good fish but the hook pulled.
Nevertheless it’s definitely a beat that is a joy to fish and I will return to when the river levels improve.

Any rain which fell in Wales over the last week seems to have missed the Usk. River very low. Dull and overcast with a brisk breeze with squalls on occasions. No fly hatch during the day so fished PTN in the faster water. Missed several takes. Perhaps should have stayed later - but the Lions game was calling!
