Very windy and hot and the river running crystal clear. Little surface activity and where there was the fish were very easily spooked.

The two barbel were 5lbs and just over 3lbs and caught in the upper pool on consecutive casts on rolling meat early in the morning. A 2lb chub also followed in quick succession before the sun came out and it got too bright. Moving down river to the next pool gave 2 more chub on meat. Then moved onto the lower pool where 1 more chub was caught. A good day overall but some big gaps between fish.

A frustrating mornings fishing - could not get to the water, bar one small part, which I waded across to the other side. River edges completely over grown! Water low. Walked the whole beat and just could not find a place to get to the water.

Day 1 at this beat.
Both fished the island swims using luncheon meat on stick float.
Fished from 5.3pam to 3.30pm.
The number caught was around 300 but WUF max is 200 on catch report. Chub were everywhere and averaging around 3lb. It was like casting into a fish farm!°

Only fished for four hours because of the heat. All fish fell to either meat or pellet, trotted through via a stick float. Very enjoyable and a beautiful stretch of river.
I did notice that new pegs have been created on the opposite bank.

A hard day. Started well with 2 chub early on from the top pool to rolling meat. Then no bites for several hours. Too hot and bright. One further chub of 3 1/2 lbs at 2pm. All fish caught on meat. No bites on pellet. Canoeists were a problem with 3 canoes actually crashing into me even though I was only standing in 6 inches of water. One double canoe capsized directly in the swim. Hilarious! One family took my rod rests out and the rod and nearly myself went in the water. Many of them have no idea how to steer. I’m all for people enjoying the river but the lack of courtesy for other river users got rather tedious. Perhaps W&U foundation could have a word with the canoe companies.

Excellent days fishing arrived at 2pm weather was very hot and sunny and the river is very low and clear, decided to start on the float and caught chub steadily from the start alternating pellet and meat on the hook. The fish ranged from 2lb up to the 2 biggest of 5lb 4oz and a real old warrior of exactly 6lb that was very spawned out and could easily go 7in the winter.Stayed on until dusk and changed to groundbait feeder hoping for a barbel but unfortunately no luck.
