River was very low and in need of the rain that came the days after. Locating the barbel was fairly difficult but we managed one each and several chub. One chub was over 6lb and resulted in a PB. Barbel were 8.5lb and 9lb. Used to seeing more small barbel (3-5lb)and often have over 5 in a day on the wye but I should think they were in deeper areas and waiting for a bit of colour/flow back in the water. Quality of the fish was amazing as always. Lots of canoes but traffic decreased around dinner time and fishing switched on more.

Came home after 1hr. Disgusting amount of litter everywhere, people shouting and screaming on banks, if there were fish within bank range they were soon driven to the middle. Utter waste of money

River in good condition with some insect life including a few mayfly. Only one rise seen during a full morning. Otherwise no fish visible. Tried both dries and nymphs to no avail. There is new fencing along much of the beat with stiles to ease access. However, bankside vegetation is rampant, there are many fallen trees and much of the water is overhung with branches making casting challenging even when wading. It would not require a huge effort to cut back the vegetation and trim a proportion of the lower branches. The benefit to anglers would be enormous.
