Owner very helpful and lovely spot to fish. Water low and clear and found difficult not to spook fish. One fish lost.

Much better day with the weather more overcast and some rain showers. Same feeder tactics produced good fish very quickly then swapped to trotting small cubes of meat throughout the middle of the day. The chub were everywhere and feeding well constantly attacking the feeder which caused a few problems getting snagged under rocks. Swapping to straight lead and pva bag helped. Other were eels.
No barbel this trip but will try again towards the end of the summer hopefully water temp will be down and a bit more flow. Will probably skip July next year.

River level the lowest we have fished the best but a couple of heavy showers and cloud helped the fishing . Caught trotting and on feeder both on pellet and meat .

Typically moody day on the Usk - almost dead for most of the day other than one take on a Klink, but they switched on for one short olive hatch when I caught all eight within about about 90 minutes! All off the top on small dries, and had a couple more come off the hook. All released as usual. Weather much milder today - indeed had to wear a jumper and casting was tricky into a stiff downstream wind. Lots of bird life - sand martin, kingfisher, dipper, grey wagtail, sandpiper, oystercatcher, red kite... and also a cormorant fishing in one pool! River quite low again, getting to summer low levels.

Only had a few hours fishing, had to resort to nymphing as there was no hatch and no rising fish to target with a dry fly. Harry did say evening was the best time, sadly we had to leave at 3pm to get back to Sussex. Lovely river, would happily fish there again.
