This trip was mainly to introduce a friend to, MD from Stourbridge, fly fishing. This beat was chosen because of its easy wading, and unimpeded casting in some areas.
After some brief casting tuition we entered the water, which was very cold.
The weather was bright and cool, but warmed up during the day. There was hardly any wind to speak of, which was all ideal for a beginner.
Unfortunately the fish didn't want to play at all, the grayling were all very small. I managed to catch two accidentally, when my nymph had swung round behind us. MD finally caught one tiny grayling, which was a bonus.
Two other things to note is that there was a lot of dead plant material coming down the river which may have affected the fishing. The other thing was that MD managed to spot two small lampreys, and a bullhead two species I rarely see!

Very low water and not much trouty water to go at. Very short surface activity 10 mins or so around 1pm but didn't figure out what they were on . Beautiful spot for a blankety blank

Two trout caught one in the morning on a nymph and one after lunch on a quill olive.
So many people walking on the bank and coming down and throwing rocks in the river made for hard fishing. Would say it is overpriced beat because of the footpath all the way along which was extremely busy.
