Fished between ten and half two, only fished up to the Elan Pipes ...Superb sport on size twenty dries ... Takes here, as usual super fast, making Edw fish seem like tortoises !!! Lol .....
The usual stamp of fish here, between six and ten inches .. Feisty little chaps though ... Lovely river height at the mo .... ohhhhh word of warning I dud spook old Tarka quite early on in mh up stream travels.... A superb sight, however I'm.sure he'd have alarmed most of the pools had i not alerted him , with a snort of disproval, he was gone .... Ive
Been here before, and I'm guessing cause of the otters shenanigans, but most of the beat was very quite.... lucky today, fab sport tbh .....
Kingfisher up and down too, and nice to see ample invertebrates under the river bed stones etc etc ....
To be fair that rainfall last week has really pepped up these rivers ..... more thunderstorms next week so they say ...
A lovely four hours dry fly sport on an old favourite. Back here soon, on one of the Arrow beats over the weekend .....Happy Days , then it's clients out again!!! No peace for the wicked hey !!!! Lol .......

Tough day. Particularly after a good day on middle hill court.
But that's fishing.
There are a few more swims opened up since our last visit. But weirdly one of the best barbel swims has been left to become completely overgrown and inaccessible . Think it needed more water on .

Beat:Barnard Castle
Fishing:Trout (River)

Weather - Hot, initially light cloud then sunny.
Water - Clear but shallow.
Population - a lot of swimmers (human thingies) upstream of the bridge and 2 snorkelling downstream beyond the exposed rocks.
Duration - 15:30 to 18:30
Location - 3 tried between 100 and 250 yards downstream of Green Bridge (South Bank)
Float fished worm trotting. Depth circa 2 to 4 feet depending on tactics.
One exceptional hit just at 14:30, just at the point of retrieving at the end of the trot. Definitely hooked (barbless size 12) but corkscrewed out of the water and dislodged the hook.
Guesstimating well over 12” long and perhaps nudging 2lb. Colour indicated Brown Trout. ????
Hope to try again tomorrow evening but a bit even later than previous afternoons.
