River very low and clear. Fished two rods with feeders but as there were no baits we switched towards the end of the session to float and moved to upper end of the field. Over a short period of time we caught 19 chub and 8 dace under overhanging trees (on maggots, small pellets and bread).

Beautiful stretch of the Wye, with lots of varied water. Even in low flows like today there were still pools where you could swing the fly. Access to the water is good, particularly the planks, but the description about difficult wading is very true. Didn’t catch, or even see any salmon.

Unfortunately had a problem with three canoeists who claimed not to know about the Upper Wye agreement and refused to leave the water.

Bright sunny day, cold - particularly early and late. Light downstrem wind. Caught 6 dace in addition to trout and grayling.
A lovely day on the river, guided and helped by jonathan Morris- an excellent guide and instructor.
