Spent the afternoon struggling up the Edw, water a wee bit too deep and fast for ease of crossing back and forth across the river, which is needed on this beat. Took most of the fish in the fast water on #16 tungsten nymphs. 4 around 10” and a couple 8” ish...forgot my tape measure today.

Fished with RM on this great beat. It was a superb day, the fishing was fast and furious with lots of good sized fish well over 1lb in weight, all but 1 taken on heavy nymphs fished 'duo' style or on a French leader.

Dropped in on this beat for a quick run through after fishing Lower Henllan further up. Some great fish caught, several exceeding 1lb.

Lovely beat but found it tricky - wading hard, and just couldn’t get flys deep enough

Nothing caught today... Only had three hours in the afternoon and decided to fish the right hand bank . Had a couple of tentative twitches using pellet feeder method but didn’t really find the fish.

This was my second attempt at catching a Wye Salmon, and my third time ever salmon fishing. The beat as ever is gorgeous and it was nice to fish it differently, a salmon fly cast across pretty much anywhere on the beat swings across the river very pleasingly. My casting came together very nicely by the afternoon but despite doing a reasonable impression of someone who knows what they’re doing I failed to catch, a lovely late summers day on the river nonetheless.

Nice sized grayling, good stretch of water to keep you busy all day. Water coloured in morning but cleared, by the afternoon the fishing improved. Top of beat was more productive.

Well kept, coffee and biscuits provided by owners.
