River steady at 0.98m with a nice tint. Beat looked very fishy as usual. Owner Barry has done considerable bank work and it shows. Access wading on Rock ,Upper Rock and Cables good even at this height of water. The bank by the hut has been well tended also allowing plenty of scope for fly fishing even with the river above optimal level. Fish wouldn’t play though, but one did show late in the afternoon allowing visiting rod John to cover it with intent and anticipation but to no avail..
A lovely day though.Just one more left (weather permitting!)

River in good condition following recent heavy rain. Appalling provision of swims considering the price of a day ticket and the length of the beat. Even with ropes some swims were simply too dangerous to attempt to use.

The paperwork for this Fishery is somewhat misleading. If the river is only slightly above Summer levels there is only one swim available at the top of the beat and only 2 or 3 at the bottom of the beat. However, once we’d sorted this out we had a great day! One tip, park in the lay-by as described on the map but walk down the road to the farm gate. It’s much quicker!

9 Barbel, 4 Chub
