The river was very coloured. I only fished the top section for a few hours starting around 10:30. Caught two on a pheasant tailed nymph and finally one on a dry fly. Access to the water was reasonable and wading was easy.

Hoped the colour would have dropped out a bit overnight, but didn’t. Took one look and left, unfishable. However, drove back past the Usk and got a 13lb fresh fish there instead, every cloud!

Area:Reservoirs
Beat:Talybont Reservoir
Fishing:Trout (Stillwater)

Great fishing as always but have heard of several instances of poaching at Talybont. Have found thick mono on the banks in a couple of locations which would suggest either night lines being set up or people spinning/worming. Always keep an eye out when I’m up there but might be worth asking NRW to also look into it but aware they are very under resourced.
