The Lugg looked promising. when I arrived early morning, the level at 1ft 2 Ins on gauge. I fished a pair of nymphs for 5 hours catching 3 trout and 3 grayling, no rising fish were seen. The Lugg can be a slow starter and I am sure in another couple of weeks will fish a lot better. Lyepole is a beautiful beat, with a symphony of birdsong as an accompaniment.

A generally good day, but the wind was quite strong, and casting was very difficult at times. My friend DH forgot his wading boots! Sigh..... He managed to find a few areas that he could cast from and make a day out of it.
Many trout were caught - about 25 in total, none of them big but better to see new fish thriving. No Salmon seen.

Black gnats hatching throughout the day but few fish rising to them. Bullocks in the field are very lively!

Beautiful stretch of water with lots of interesting features. Plenty of fly life although no fish rising with any regularity. Cool northerly wind took the edge of the weather. Had several bumps from fish on nymphs and managed 1 lovely 1.5lb brown behind the downstream island on a green klinkhammer.
Sand Martin’s, dipper, Merganser with 17 ducklings and yellow wagtail seen.
Great afternoon and evening.
Access could do with a trim!
May have left a black box of flies somewhere if any kind soul manages to find them!

Booking Office note: If anyone does find the box, please ring us at 01874 712074 and we will help to re-home it.

Lovely quiet couple of hours. One trout taken on dry fly in the middle pool and a couple missed. River low and a little bright still. Otters for company.

Very good to be back out on the rather lovely Lynfi and looking just great in the spring sunshine. No mayfly yet that I saw but where a few olives and stoneflies popping off here and there and enough to keep the fish looking up and the old tried and trusted para' Adams in a 16 did the job very well as usual.
The fish where all in fabulous condition, plump and all punched more than well above their size. It seemed to me the average fish size was up this season, apart from a couple of 6 inchers the rest where up around the 9 to 11inch mark . Could be some very interesting fishing late summer , hope so!
Lots of the other smaller fish bumped off and a good few of the larger chaps still too.
Good numbers of fry observed. Hopefully trout.
I find by experience that its the top approx 1/3 of the beat to the boundary that fishes the best and a fantastic stretch to fish . Once your in the water up by Tregunter farm you can wade up all the way to the boundary in low/lowish water and its riffle, run, pool sequence all the way and more than a good few hours worth at least doing the heron walk.
Looking forward to when the mayflies up . That will be even more fun.!
Many thanks again WUF.
