Just a morning stint as we had end our weekend of fishing to get home. We firstly fished the wood swims which are challenging but appealing then the main meadow swims. Both didn't produce fish between 7am and midday. We bumped into the other 4 fisherman on the beat. This beat cannot support 6 people. There are not enough swims. I am aware some good double figure Barbel are caught here but I would choose another beat going forward with less rods on the beat.

Great morning fishing. Mick the ghillie gave instruction on tackle then told me to cover a nice looking run . And ten minutes later I was into a good fish. Skillfully netted by Mick then safely return good condition about 12lb.

second day of 2, cold start but beautiful spot, had a 3lb chub which a huge pike went for on the way in ! left some marks on the chub and i would say was a BIG pike, great weekend at a lovely stretch, and we stayed in the on site caravan on the farm which was ideal!

A great day’s Fishing thank you Richard - grayling coming to deep fish bugs, odd fish rising to dark olives. Accessibility to pools much easier now that gravel has moved in to many of the pools making wading much easier and holding an increased amount of fish in many runs. Highly recommend this beat for winter grayling dry fly fishing - it takes some beating on the whole of the Wye.

Hard going. Overnight cold weather had left the river very low and clear and didn't get much action until later on in the day despite covering much of the stretch and using a variety of methods. I hadn't realised that the beat has been shortened and no longer includes the Vanstone Pool or the top bend. That was a real disappointment as the swims just below the top bend had always been the ones that produced best for us in the past. Not sure I would book again on that basis.
