Lovely sunny day with minimal canoe traffic. Annoyed as I forgot my scales never done that before.
Managed three barbel best one between 10 - 11lb but nearer 11lb I’m sure, had a few 10’s from hear and this was bigger and gave a fantastic brawl.

1 grilse safely returned in the morning for Greg Tustin. Water condition and height good on what was more like summer day around 20 degrees in October!
As always expertly guided by Nathan whose patience in an exceptionally frustrating season due to the weather/water conditions should be acknowledged

This is not the most popular beat on the Wye, we could tell by the gate being overgrown and the track on the old railway. I don’t think it had seen a vehicle for a few weeks. Then we saw the steps , must have been 70/80 at least. Not good for PM already had a heart attach a couple of months ago.
After a good hour looking for swims we ended up each side of the old railway buttresses, probably the safest swims we found, it was a good job there was a ladder in place, or we were going to call it a day. On the other hand the river looks as always ,very inviting but it was low and within 15 mins I had my pb Barbel of 13lb on halibut pellet. Dace on maggot later . PM. fishing above the buttress es had a Barbel 12lb 7oz. and 2 smaller ones. 5lb and 6lb caught on halibut pellets.

4 Barbel, 7 Other
