Colder day after the last week of unseasonably warm weather. Fished the faster water to start but other than a couple of chub it was slow going. Moved back towards the deeper water and it was there we found the barbel. Fishing single small pellet and feeding very little did the trick with the majority of the fish coming at the end of the day. The barbel were in the 5-7lb range, the chub 2-3lb and fin perfect as usual. All in all a good days fishing for this time of year and as usual the venue never disappoints, will be back in the new season.

A long day for just two small grayling! Tried all the usual suspects and others as well but the fish just weren't interested ( or weren't there...? ). Good to be out despite the drizzle.

Lovely day to be out, shame about the fishing. Water pushing through but clear, not a sign of fly life and only 2 grayling caught by GC.

Another very warm late February day and after a frosty start it quickly warmed up to 18 or 19 degrees which is remarkable for winter. It did not help the fishing and although we fished all the known swims on this stretch we managed just one small barbel between us. The river looked in good condition if low and a bit clear but we were suprised at the lack of even small fish showing to our 'catch anything' tactics.

I made this trip to take advantage of the unseasonably warm late February weather. It was a very bright day but still with a sharp frost when I arrived around 8:00 - far too early as it turned and I could probably have stayed in bed for another couple of hours. Nothing happened until mid morning when my first grayling came to a heavily weighted nymph. Thereafter there was a steady trickle of small flies coming off the water but the only fish I saw rise were those that swirled at and missed my fly. I caught steadily until mid-afternoon, mostly with spiders (snipe and purple, and partridge and orange) fished in a team with a weighted nymph on the point. All the fish were in lovely condition with the best trout and best grayling each around the pound mark. All the fish came from the Cillau run near the lower limit of the beat. A lovely day all in all.
