Not fished this beat for a year or so since when it looks to have been tidied up somewhat with access easier as a consequence. No fish caught today however.

Nil caught. River at a good level, and clear. Slightly milder day than the previous. Tried various beaded nymphs it the usual likely looking spots. No sign of a fish. I know there's plenty of grayling in this stretch, as I've had some very good days in the past. Roll on the Spring!

First trip of 2017 turned out to be a difficult cold day, in low clear water conditions. Deep nymphing, which we considered would probably be the most productive method, produced just 1 grayling, 1 oos trout, and a small salmon kelt. The day was saved somewhat by a small flurry of activity as a few Large dark olives drifted past, and caught the attention of a couple of decent sized grayling. 5, I think were taken on dry olive patterns before the wind, and failing light put a stop to activities. A good day to be out though, on what is a fantastic upper Wye beat.

Cold sunny and clear day. River up but only slight tinge of colour. Saw large male otter who did his best to avoid me filming him!Lots of dippers about, one heron and large flock of lapwing. No cormorant sighted. Got stuck in car park but managed to dig myself out...sorry about the ruts! Lovely characterful river and pleasant lowland scenery.
