Not a sniff on nymphs for the first hour , within the next hour 6 to cdc march brown dun . In This hour was two very short and explosive hatches . The first lasted about ten minutes the second about 5 minutes . Then again the river fell dormant . I worked up a nice stretch nymphing for about half an hour but not a touch . Largest fish around 16 inches , the other five all roughly 14 inches

Really quiet day had 1 bite which was the fish caught. Worm on the bottom caught it, nothing on spinners or float.

Bright sunny day with only a brief hatch around 11.30. Fish willing to take a jingler for next couple of hours in fast runs. Best 14".

Another lovely Spring day, some cloud in the morning which cleared, so warm and sunny throughout. No sign of surface activity until about 12.30 when there was quite a prolific March Brown hatch.. Lasted about 20 mins at it's peak, but carried on intermittently for about an hour. I benefitted from the 'awakening' with one fine brown trout, 17", caught at about 1pm, on a yellow wulff mayfly pattern.

Fished dawn till dusk on fly, not much doing apart from a good fish showing at very bottom of the beat and a solid pike that got me thinking. Superb spring day with the river in great nick, great to be out!

11 landed and another 8 missed chances. Consistent trickle of March Browns from 10am-4pm, the most prolific hatch being at about 1100.

Not much surface activity but the fish still rose freely to the dry fly in the faster riffles especially.

The biggest two were battle scarred old brutes and with very worn fins akin to a stocked fish - not expected in an Usk Brown, usually fin perfect.
