Ross EA on 0.55m, bit high but lovely clean water, spent morning in wellies with fly rod fishing all way from Maddox to Van stone, only trout. Lovely water easily covered. Afternoon, got in waders tried top of beat, some deep wading upper part of beat at this height getting around the odd willow but managed to cover some great looking pools at V, Stones, Dog hole. Late afternoon returned to lower beat, it all felt just right and coming round Corner Tree into Vanstone stream on inside a good fish on, big bulge and gone. Ffffff! 20lb maxima no chance and pikey left with one of Ron Sutherlands finest willie gunn sneldas! Tough spring fly fishing for Salmon these days but had a great day out. Thanks all and Mick for phoning with advice.

Two chub to 5lbs 6 ozs and two barbel to 6lbs 12 ozs from drain cover swim in morning. Someone then moved into swim 10 yards downstream and I had no further bites. Not very considerate angling on their part.
Moved to metal steps and had only one small chub for rest of the day.

Managed a small pike first thing however there were signs of them starting to spawn once the day warmed up so I packed up and left them to it. Fingers crossed I’ll be back again next winter.
