River still really low and clear. Needs water badly. Weather was mild and overcast sky.
Started in the second swim in the field to the right of the path down to the river. First four casts led in three sets of lost gear so moved.
Chatted to the guy in the church pool swim who was using maggot and was not getting bites. Feared the worst. Moved to the bottom field near the downstream end of the beat and settled into a peg with deeper water and fished mid river. Fished groundbait feeder and single pellet on the hook. Decided to bait heavily. Make or break. Had first barbel after an hour 9lb 2oz. An hour later 2nd barbel 9lb 3oz. Fished just into the dark and ended up with 8 barbel.
3 nine pounders biggest 9lb 6oz. 2 eights, two fives and a four. Lost one big one to hook pull.
Removed barbed hook from the biggest one which wasn't mine. Don't use barbed hooks, they damage the fish!!! Look after these fish and use strong line so you land them and not leave hooks in them!!

2 barbel & 2 chub caught first thing from swims either side of shallows 2/3 way down beat, nothing else until I moved up to the swim in front of hut last thing when 3 barbel & a chub put in an appearance. 2 of the barbel were around 8lb & the chub was over 4lb. Always worth staying until dusk on the Wye, river was low & clear always a pleasure to fish this well kept beat.

Bad day River very low and fish hard/impossible to find. Moved to various swims up and down the beat but the day was a total blank. Had to come I suppose as I have had great results on my previous two trips to the Wye.
Tried various baits and methods to no avail.......but will be back again in the near future.

River was low and clear, which resulted in the fishing being tough. Other than seeing a Pike, the only activity we experienced was a Barbel around 5lb.

2 Chub of about 3lbs, 2 Barbel of 5lbs and 1 Barbel of 8lbs. All caught on feeder using two Halibut pellets on a long hair rig.
The river was crystal clear and low, all fish were caught towards the end of the day as the light was changing.
Lots of loose streamer weed made fishing difficult but not impossible with a little effort. This particular beat is quite long with lots to explore towards the bottom end of the run. Would recommend using some waders and fishing the channels between the weed on the faster sections.
A fantastic weekend and will be back ASAP.

Barbel fishing and pike was our objective. First cast of the day a red 6lb cock salmon took AE's pike lure (quickly returned). Then for rest of day not a single bite from the barbel, or dead baiting for pike despite covering whole beat. River seemed grey and dead, water very low and clear. Just one of those days when absolutely nothing happened! The stretch seemed fishless aside from the odd salmon showing.
