Very limited places to fish . There were a few other anglers float fishing and lots of youngsters camping on the banks with fires light . After miles of walking the south side of the lake i managed a few casts at the dam before leaving.

What a glorious little section of the Usk! Started at midday and spent 7 hours fishing for some stunning browns! 3 were close to 2lbs! Majority taken on small drys today with just two on the nymph. Fish were up and down in the water due to the wind, cloud cover and few showers but when they came up for a hatch it was bites galore! I missed more than i hooked but had s great day regardless. Will 100% be back for another day out!

Fished beat 6 and beat 2 with the fly and spinner. No pulls. Saw on fish at the top of beat 6. An enjoyable weekend on a fine beat with the river at a good height.

River higher and carrying some colour which wasn’t expected. Lots of fly life but the fish weren’t looking up. Tried lots of glides and holes but not much success.

1500-1800hrs. Cloudy, overcast, occasional shower, occasional sunshine. Water temp around 16°C. A few updates to the beat instructions would be useful. Gate is now locked with a bike padlock so can't park inside. Wasn't really sure of the beat boundaries so fished from the cement bridge upstream which may have been wrong. What Three Words should be used across Fishing Passport to identify exact start and end of beats, access points, parking etc. Some lovely little pools and lots of water in the river. Vegetation on banks and tree canopy both very thick making access and casting challenging for a rookie fly fisherman. I'm sure a more experienced angler would have caught. No rises observed. Very few mayfly seen landing. Tried various patterns of daddy longlegs and other dries. Tried some streamers. Eventually settled on foam bodied mayfly which I managed to flick upstream into pools allow to drift nicely downstream of me and then retrieve back. No luck, but that's most likely due to me, not the river. Stream very overgrown so wading the whole way in depths from ankle to waist leaving the river when obstacles dictated. Waders would have been better than shorts as the bank is heavily armed with stinging nettles all the way. Very pretty spot. A little stewardship and some better directions would make a world of difference.
