A few inches below 2ft at Fownhope gauge and water slightly coloured. Two fish lost in the morning. We saw dozen fish throughout the day.

Excellent mornings fishing although if I had managed to hook and land as many fish as I had takes then easily into double figures. Best method was a small size 16 copper beaded pheasant tail nymph fished upstream although fish also caught on mayfly hatch late morning. All fish returned ..and I will later in the season!

Taken mostly from the shallow waters under the bridge using dry fly midge.

2 smaller fish, larger ones were showing, but were not interested in my flies.

Bright sunny afternoon, fairly strong wind at times, spent the afternoon spinning close to the first car park using all types and sizes but blanked.

Caught 3, nothing over a pound. Lovely day fishing. Fish caught on weighted olive nymph, quite a few porchers there using worm and spinning, I talked to them and they mentioned they don't see a bailiff up there.

2 Sea Trout

As a newcomer to fly fishing, this was my first experience of river fishing and caught my first wild brown trout aprox. 9" on a dry fly. Weather was sunny and mild with a cool breeze. Thank you WUF I will be trying other river experiences.

1 Trout

Morning session only. A beautiful day; sun with some light cloud; the river a good colour. Very little rising. Five nice trout, one to one & half lbs each taken on comparaduns (three) and gold-head PTNs (two). Beat recommended, although a few dog walkers here and there.

5 Trout

The river was very low, and flow was slow in the pools. Weather conditions were bright and sunny, although the temperature was lower than the previous couple of days. No fish were observed moving, despite mayfly hatching.
There was also a considerable amount of silt on the rocks and stones on the riverbed, indicating run-off upstream has been carrying a significant amount of soil into the river.
