Five reasonable carp between the two of us, float fishing with sweetcorn. Plus a bream, and assorted small rudd and roach. At least the cattle didn't notice us today! A nice small venue, that will probably fish well in the summer.

Only one of us fished for salmon with no luck. River still high, top of beat too high and fast to wade. I fished for trout with 6 up to a pound.

Perfect weather conditions apart from river a lot higher than expected and most of the "shape" of the river disappears.
Being a big river it was difficult getting at any fishy water. Plenty of olives hatching, Plenty of yellow May Duns around lunch time but no fish rising. No fish caught
Had a pint at The Griffin £3:45 a pint!

Three brown trout, ranging from 7 inches to 16 inches, taken on an NZ setup: biggest fish took the dry.
This is a cracking beat that looked beautiful in the spring sunshine, and conditions were perfect after a week of high, muddy water apparently. Sparse hatches throughout the day.
Wading is indeed tricky in places, but easier in the bottom half of the beat – you should definitely have a wading stick as well as felt soles and studs.
Will be back!

I fished dry fly mostly on the flats and struggled to catch one trout. The other two anglers tried dry and nymph had some takes but did not land any fish. Everyone enjoyed the scenery.

River good height and clear. Reasonable number of fish rising but all seemed very small. Fished dries, mainly emergers, small shuttlecocks etc. 6 fish caught but only to 5", all returned.

Water a good height (12" on Brecon gauge), warmish day. Reasonable amount of fly life about - olives, LDO's,sedge and some sherry spinners later in the day.
Surprised, given the conditions, very little rising. Two decent 12" wbt caught (emerger pattern) and released.
Unauthorised angler (poacher to you and me) dropped in with his spinning rod on the lower part of the beat. Was despatched by one of the anglers and beat owner, David, who over a glass of wine shared some useful knowledge about the beat and area which has been tucked away for future trips.

Took two rainbow of about 2lbs each hard fighting and quite silvery in colour on damsel. Switched to dry and caught 6 perch, but no more rainbow. Lake went quiet from 2 p.m A hot day, no cloud. Stayed self catering at Llangwynidr, excellent. Also had a private day on 14th on a beat below Crickhowell bridge. Very few rising fish, but had a brown of 1lb on a hawthorn.

Beautiful day in wonderful surroundings. Access is easy throughout. One fish taken, 14 inches, fell to a deep sunk gold headed Pheasant Tail nymph. A few fish were rising but ignoring the odd mayfly. I missed two fish who came to a black Klink, then I discovered that the hook had been straightened when attached to branch just behind me. Note to self: Must remember to check the fly after it has been snagged.

Good height today, 2 foot, excellent conditions apart from the bright sun really. Thought I would of touched a fish today. Saw one salmon turn in the tail of Ty Mawr Pool. Caught one trout about a pound and had a good shad about 3 pounds.
