Fished this beat today under the wild stream season ticket, river was in good condition and running clear, lots of fly life and fish showing in the top pool and at the end of the beat. Fish very spooky and didn't managed to hook anything.

After such a wet, dark, even desolate winter it was a delight to be out fishing such a wonderful water on what was a perfect early spring day. Perhaps too perfect for fishing without a cloud in the sky, but frankly I didn't care.
This is a beat of great character, super pools and runs, interesting fishy spots throughout. There was a reasonably steady hatch of March Olives from around 11.15am until 3.00pm but the fish didn't turn on to them. A great deal of promise though for when things warm up.
Excellent beat notes and directions were provided. Those warnings re taking along your chest waders should be heeded. I found my wading staff a comfort too.
Many thanks to the Foundation and owners for making this available.

The river was coloured with lots of water pushing through, which made wading a little tricky - as DJ found when he took a ducking within the first 5 minutes. We pressed on as the river cleared through the day, but our efforts proved fruitless - we saw no fish and caught nothing. Access is pretty good but wading is necessary to get to all the water - chest waders and a wading stick are essential. A terrific beat and a great way to spend a day, - we'll be back in a few weeks.

River fined down from recent floods with colour dropping out. Fished opposite weir garden but very quiet with no fish spotted all day. Tactics used were open end feeders filled with pellet & pellet hook bait. My fishing companion caught a barbel (5lb 6oz) which was to be his only fish of the day whilst I continually found snags & lost 3 feeders & a ledger. Decided to switch swims & 1st cast caught a 2lb chub but then started to snag again. The swims looked good with slow oxygenated water running round the outside of a bend but perhaps the fish have moved downstream into deeper, slower water? Very snaggy!
