Fished 3hrs for salmon. Weather and water perfect at .78m No luck at Wires and Rock. Switched to trout at 12 and landed two trout below Rock. Best 8oz. John Phillips landed 3 and lost 3 at the wood stream.
Previous two visits water too high at 1.9m and 1.1m so unable to wade and casting proved difficult from the recently eroded banks.

Blustery and mainly clear day but downstream wind made for tricky conditions. Eventually fished with spiders and nymphs across and down. Landed one nice fish in riffles toward bottom of beat on nymph. Lots of dark olives coming off the water around noon. One or two rises and watched a wonderful weighty trout cruise midstream up from the Salmon Pool. Wonderful to be on the river again.

Bright and sunny with the river running clear. Both fished weighted nymphs for most of the day without a touch. Virtually no fly on the water. The odd fish rose on the glide at the bottom but couldn't interest them with anything. One of those days.

Water level was just right but as a bit of colour still evident I went for a larger tungsten tube fly at 1.5 inch, a cascade pattern with lots of sparkle. A shortish 5 foot tip on a 5 foot super fast sinking leader on the end of an intermediate/ sink #2 tip shooting head. All this effort paid off at 3pm with a fine silver 7.5lb hen fish that went ballistic. Weigh-netted a released safely after a quick photo in the net, for the non believers!
