Slight colour and water about 10 " higher than my previous trips. So, encouraged by these conditions and a big tide, fished hard all day. Unfortunately, no success.
So in total fished Wyesham five times this summer and caught 3 salmon despite my inexperience on these beats.

Saw a few fish, thought "any second now" twice. It did but only to 2 very fat brownies. The river looked in good condition but the water has gone all too quick. Cracking beat with lots of water to fish.

A still, cloudy autumn day with the Cilmery guage at 0.43m. Very little fly, apart from a few small olives, and hardly a rise. Had taken six grayling in peaceful tranquility until early afternoon, and then nothing. Might it just be possible that that might have had anything at all to do with the disturbance caused by the slow passage, and then the stopping, of six large trespassing canoes, complete with noisy youngsters and their leaders, that appeared at that time? Grayling all from 14-17" and all bar one taken on a small, dark olive emerger. The other taken bugging on a flashback PTN and it weighed nearly 2.25lb. Where are the smaller fish these days? Hiding from canoes maybe! Went home earlier than intended - I can't imagine why!
