A lovely if not tiring day on a lovely venue. Plenty of Roach, Rudd, Chub and Perch caught on the float. The day was somewhat frustrating though by the fact that I couldn't get any Carp to the net.( I lost three )
Didnt see a soul all day, perfect many thanks again to the WUF.

Ladies,
First apologies for not submitting sooner, I had not forgotten. Thank you for the help in getting me the bookings. I came down on speck having spoken to D and A B a short time before to find they had no bookings. Well planed fishing trips for me do not work and I find it much more rewarding just to turn up and take what is available. It worked well for today the 21 Aug 2012 and hopefully for the 22 and 23 Aug 2012.
Today I had the pleasure of a meeting with Dr Stephen happily murdering Himalayan Balsam with a magic little tool.

Upper am - A total of 5 Browns all taken on a variation of the PT Nymph with Russian Black Pheasant Center Tail, Bodies, fished on the bottom lots of weight. Average size 5" to 8" for the first four and 10" for the fifth, around a pound handsome little chap.

Lower pm - Changeover time. Unlike Gromain, Llanstephan is a predictable stretch of river and as the afternoon progressed 9 Browns were taken again on the PT Variation fished hard and deep all in the 8" to 10" bracket all below a pound around 5.45pm, bigger Browns began to rise to a big hatch of what I know as Willow Fly Double Winged Tan Brown body colours, so on went a Willow Fly Dry. I connected with a brown approx 4 to 5lbs monster which gave me a good run around which I ended with a LDPR, Long Distance Premature Release. Give a trout with nous a little slack line and bless him, he will spit the hook for you. I fish light, 3lb tippet size 14 and 16 hooks all barbless so do not invite the obvious.
A great day with lots of memories of good sport and brave trout.
All the best and once again Thank you for your help.

We finally had a good day on the Rectory today. After several fishing visits to Gromain and Rectory were I had lost 2 fish previously, I landed my first salmon on the fly from the Rectory. A fish of 8lbs, coloured, caught on a size 8 black and yellow fly from the Bridge Pool. My friend had a salmon of 9.5lbs which was also coloured taken on a black flying c on Ty Mawr pool. He also had 2 follows on the spinner, one was a very big fish which turned close in. He also hooked another fish later on that day which was sadly lost which could of been 3 fish today.

Five chub taken, best six pounds over six hours fishing. One rather small with remainder averaging three pounds. River too full and fast to fish successfully for barbel although this was the intended species when booking made. Bait varied including boilies / bread / luncheon meat. All fish taken on the meat. River level slightly above summer level, only slightly peat coloured but very fast flowing. Fishing challenging but the terrific condition of the chub a reward in itself.

Slow evening after a couple of sharp showers. Felt cold but probably wasn't. 2 brown trout, one of 8 inches in perfect condition and 2nd good fish of 12inches (1 lb). First rose to a small dry and the second took a GB hairs ear nymph. Few other takes to the dry missed. Larger fish taken.

Bit of a struggle today, not as good as this beat usually is. Barbel, chub and dace to float and feeder tactics.
