Fantastic sunny day in middle of heat wave, fished from 0700- 1900. Find the faster water and find the fish, river low so paddling out to access new runs was possible, pellet and feeder kept them coming all day. Thanks Colin for the chat. Barbel in great shape, keep changing hooklengths to keep the fish biting. Thanks Wye and Usk.

Very hot & sunny, low water - beautiful time for fishing but not for catching. Little activity from fish or flies, just a few olives & caddis about ... basically too sunny and too hot.
All fish returned safely but all small (10 grayling to 8" plus 2 to 14", 7 x trout to 8")

Difficult day. River very low and clear. A few small chublets, one decent chub and one barbel on the waggler. No bites at all on the feeder.

We struggled on this very hot day. Tried pool after pool but the fish - if they were there - wouldn't switch on. With the field now in arable the track is now rougher than I remember it - vehicles need higher clearance to avoid grounding. Hereford AA anglers (catching eels?) now fishing right up to Luggsmouth - so not quite the peace and quiet we used to enjoy at the bottom of the beat.

Fished from about 4pm due to heat. Lovely early evening session if a bit sporadic. Managed to winkle out a few fish from the deeper stretch on far bank once the shadows had fallen. River low, warm and in need some rain in next couple of weeks.

Bag limit reached on 3 days. Most on spinner. Very good quality fishing. Shame about fishermen, who pay to fish, being disturbed by swimmers, people allowing their dogs in the water and throwing stones. The rangers are a good bunch but there is not enough of them.

Fished from 7.30am - 7.30pm. Small chub showed early with one of 3lb. Barbel came steadily all day, mainly in the six pound area, but a one off large one appeared mid afternoon at 10lb 7oz. An eel of 2lb 10oz put in an appearance as well.
Ledgered pellet. River low and quite colored.
Stayed at the Inn on the Wye - very close by, very friendly place.

Day one - Great expectations, very hot, too hot. That walk is just too far, even without the heat.
The Taxi would have been great but could not get him on phone but spoke to him later and he only takes you to the river. Then you still have 3 fields and 3 stiles to cross to get to the top end were the faster water is.
Finally arrived saturated and knackered, water very low and clear. Had a nice chub about 4lb second cast but nothing for rest of day/evening between two of us.
But I must say it is a lovely location and in the right condition would have produced more fish. Main bait used elipse pellet.

Absolutely loads of small trout surface activity from 8pm until 10pm and in a short 20mins with the 4WT trout rod, caught 9 brownies klink and dinking between 5 and 10 inches and missed/lost twice as many, fishing barbless.
Broke the sewin kit out at last light and moved to the pool between the main beat parking and Crewil. In the gloom I could see a few fish splashing down stream of me. They weren't of any size, 2-4lbs but I think they were running as I had a 2 sharp tugs but they didn't stick. Maybe if I wasn't fishing barbless they might have!
No one else around. Lovely evening though on a lovely beat.

River dropped again over night and after such a hectic day on the Monday, the barbel definitely seemed to have dropped back, possibly into deeper water downstream. Still, I had some great fun on the float catching the chub but lost a couple of nice barbel in the faster flow. However, I did catch a lovely 9lb+ barbel from the deep hole below the island so was pretty chuffed with that. Had to work much harder for the fish today but still a very enjoyable day on the Wye.
